How does your garden grow?

We have had monsoon weather the last few days with a ton of rain and cooler weather… My garden is SPROUTING!

We planted garlic, onions (green, red and yellow) zucchini, round zucchini, butternut squash, radishes, carrots, peas, string beans,  tomatoes, bell peppers, and jalapenos.  I can’t wait to really start eating out of the garden!

We also have a full herb garden with mint, rosemary, cilantro, parsley, pineapple sage, thyme, lemon thyme, oregano, basil, chives and more.

4th of July… what does it mean to you?

I woke up Sunday morning and got ready for church. Normally we go to the Saturday night service, but this week we chose the busy 9:30 Sunday morning service at the Heights. When we arrived,  to a FULL parking lot where we even had to park out on the dirt… not caring as we saw a Black Hawk Helicopter in the parking lot. WOWWIE! Our Church is AMAZING. I can’t think of anything better on a day of patriots to celebrate with our armed forces in the parking lot.

Little did I know, the pastor speaking was a guest pastor Army Chaplin. AGAIN WOWWIE! There was a flag ceremony and a show of current and past solders who are either members of family of members of our church. A tear-jerking kind of sermon and presentation. Still, I loved it!

We had 4th of July at my parents house – BBQing is my dad’s FAVORITE thing to do. I made 2 AMAZING desserts (crumb topped Peach Blackberry Mint Cobbler and a crumb topped Peach Strawberry Rhubarb…) There were SO YUMMY!!! We were surrounded by Fabulous Friends – the Millers, Aguilars, Shaffmans, Pomels, Eldridges, Grandma and Uncle Jimmy from Jason’s family and more. They kids hosted their annual talent show! HAHAH I laughed SO HARD!

Thank you for helping us see what 4th of July is really about and THANK YOU to our past and present troops who have sacrificed so much to allow us to have our celebrations.

Banana S'more Goo Recipe

It had been windy here. So we haven’t had a chance to go outside and melt our marshmallows. Then, the last 2 nights we have rain, monsoon rain… and I am not complaining.

So the kids had me made our Banana S’more Goo:

  1. Fry bananas in oil
  2. Once crystallized, add marshmallows until melted
  3. Add the banana goo to the top of graham crackers
  4. top with mini chocolate chips
