Chalkboard Paint – Revisited

I have had a few email of friends and readers who have asked if I would repost my chalkboard paint items.

Have I told you how much that I LOVE chalkboard paint?? I bought a can of spray… about $7 at Ace Hardware… I also picked up blue tape. I taped up the clip on top… spray painted (3 times – let dry in between)… let 100% dry over night. I embellished it, added a ribbon for my chalk and voila!!! I even included felt erasers. :) On sale for $9.95 at Natalie’s Shop in Chino Valley.

The Travel Chalkboard

Going to miss my vinyl – so time to start planning my redecorating

One thing that makes me sad about moving is that I am going to miss my vinyl on my walls. I will have to re-cut everything because there is no way that I will be able to peel them all and keep them in good enough condition to put back up… so I will have to re-cut them. You can purchase vinyl at your local Home Depot or Lowes or Ace Hardware. I found Wall Pops in the wall paper department. It comes in rolls that your can cut that fit PERFECTLY with your cricut or wishblade cutters. http://wall-pops.com/ or you can see exactly where to buy in your area HERE: http://wall-pops.com/where-to-buy/

(a few of these I did purchase before I found vinyl to cut)

Located in my scrapbook classroom – Cut with my wishblade

Located in my scrappy classroom – Cut with my cricut

Located above my bay window – Bought when TLC was around

The Live – Laugh – Love is my FAVORITE one – Located above my front door – Cut with my wishblade

Boys door – Cut with my cricut

Girl’s Door – cut with my cricut

Girls’Room – Cut with my cricut

Be Mine Felt Sign

This is a SUPER EASY & FAST. (It takes about a hour to create.)

You will need

  • 2 sheets of White Felt cut in half,
  • 2 sheets of Red felt cut in half.
  • Left over Red and/or white fabric
  • Aleene’s hot stitch Fusible Web – If you don’t have this, you can stitch or hot glu your letter on the felt.
  • Red or white embroidery floss and needle
  • Buttons
  • Ribbon and/or cord
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  1. Cut your felt in half.
  2. Cut letters to say BE MINE (I used my computer to print as a template.)
  3. Hand cut hearts.
  4. Glue the letters to the felt leaving 2 inches to at the top of each felt piece, alternating the red and white color.
  5. Stitch on hearts and buttons randomly on each letter.
  6. Fold over the top of the felt and hot glue it into a loop to allow you to run ribbon or cording through your banners letter.
  7. String with cord and HANG! 🙂

Arts and Crafts – Days 2 , 3, and 4 – Style School

SISTERS hangerLike I had previously mentioned, I joined up with Elsie’s Style School. There have been some FUN and interesting projects so far… Today was a day of crafting.
I finished Days 2, 3 and 4 today.

Day 2 – wrapped hanger SISTER’S for my girls’ room. I wrapped a hanger in yarn, and hung “SISTERS” cut from my Cricut machine.

Day 3 Style School - APRONDay 3 – A Decorative Apron. I took a waitress apron that I picked up at Goodwill and “altered it a bit to make it more “ME”. I added a burlap backing to it and additional pocket. I also added bright buttons randomly around it.

Day 4 - Pom NecklaceDay 4 – Pom Necklace. Although this was NOT my style at all, both Shelby and Elwyn went GAGA over this… I even had a request for a pom headband. I am thinking that is a GREAT possibility!!We ALSO managed to finish all of the disco balls to hang in the girls room – Only made 3 to hang in front of their window!!!

Have a GREAT weekend!!!

Disco Ball Supplies

Arts & Crafts – MINI DISCO BALL

Disco BallWhen Shelby looked at me and said, “Mom, I want disco balls in my room to reflect the morning light”. I just laughed… anyone who knows Shelby knows that she NEVER sees the morning light!! This morning, I had to pull her out of bed at 9am to start school work.

Then, I started thinking…How could I make affordable disco balls for the girls’ room.

Recycled CDs!!! I have a ton of scratched cds and dvds that can not be used anymore. I bought a handful of white Styrofoam balls , cut up a dozen broken cds and started gluing.

For this project, you will need to following:

  • styrofoam balls
  • 1-1/2 cds per styrofoam ball
  • small dowel rod
  • tacky glue (school glue DOES NOT work) – I bought GOOEY GLUE by Darice on sale at Michaels.
  • kitchen shears
  • ribbon
  1. cut dowel rod to fit inside the ball with a 1/2 to 1 inch extra on the top
  2. push the cut rod mostly through the ball, remove, add glue and stick back in.
  3. cut your cd into small pieces with the shears (regular kitchen scissors DO NOT WORK! Are you doubting me? I tried… with 3 different pairs of scissors)
  4. apply tacky glue to the ball and glue on the cd pieces – let dry
  5. add a loop to the top around the rod, then tie a bow with an additional piece.I used hot glue for the top loop and bow.

A day of relaxing and hair barrettes

Today was a Day of Relaxing… We did take down the tree (Answer the cat was climbing it) and we cleaned out ALL DRESSERS belonging to kiddletts- Boy, do I have a few bags ready for Goodwill this next week.  Lar clipped all of my coupons and I entered them into the computer. (we use www.TheGroceryGame.com and www.PracticalSaver.com).

And that was about it… I tell you, I needed a day like this! 🙂

The girls and I got our shopping lists ready for Elsie Flannigan’s Style School (Loni got me to sign up for this class… I am REALLY looking forward to it)

And we made a few Hair clips for the girls. I LOVE having Girls… Especially for the girly things that we make together!
