Living in Arizona, we don’t have quite the opportunities as other parts of the garden where you can just throw your seeds out and have full plants a week later! We have hot, dry days and we live up in a valley in the mountains that gets us a bit of snow and a lot of wind!!!
I am often asked about my garden…. In the summer our grocery bill is less than $100/month for all of us because I buy meat in bulk throughout the year and we grow a HUGE Garden. (We mostly pick up milk and almond milk and cheese during the summer and that’s it!!!)
The kids and I got in 18 tomatoes (I have 12 more in my greenhouse), 4 Tomatillos, Spinach, Lettuce, Red Onions, Garlic, 12 Egg Plants, 24 different Peppers (chilies, jalapenos, bells, etc) Radishes, Turnips, Peas, Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots. We harvested spinach and radishes for dinner the other night… SO GOOD!
Our zucchini, pumpkins, cucumbers, kale, chard and rhubarb are all still in the greenhouse.
Here are a few photos of our “weeding-fest” from this last weekend!!
